SUPER MENU.

Byline: Mark Baker The Register-Guard

Sure, you've seen professional football player Donovan McNabb Donovan Jamal McNabb (born November 25, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He played college football at Syracuse University.  - he of the Super Bowl-bound Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1933.
     - on those soup commercials, diving into those hearty bowls just like his mother tells him.

But what do you think McNabb would really want to eat if he were going to a Super Bowl party and watching himself play this Sunday? And what if that party were right here in Lane County?

Well, here's betting he'd "McNabb" himself something dang tasty, and that it wouldn't be McNuggets. Here's a hunch that he would want to create something that would impress his guests, and he wouldn't want to spend a lot of timing making it.

If he were smart, and you know he is because he has led his team - finally - into the biggest game in all the land Sunday, he would consider cooking up some of Chef Billy's Crab Cakes, the same ones you can order at Mac's at the Vet's Club on Willamette Street in Eugene.

All you have to do is take a couple of pounds of crab meat, throw in some grated Swiss cheese, a couple of eggs, some Dijon mustard, lemon juice, bread crumbs, olive oil olive oil, pale yellow to greenish oil obtained from the pulp of olives by separating the liquids from solids. Olive oil was used in the ancient world for lighting, in the preparation of food, and as an anointing oil for both ritual and cosmetic purposes.  and flour, and top it off with some stone ground mustard sauce.

Can you say culinary catch in the end zone?

If hot wings are the things you like to throw down on Super Sunday The term Super Sunday may refer to the following
    • Super Sunday (TV series), a 1980s American cartoon multicharacter series from Marvel Entertainment
    • Super Sunday (phone-a-thon)
, then Mike West at West Brothers BBQ BBQ barbecue  has a recipe that will leave your nose tingling tin·gle
    v. tin·gled, tin·gling, tin·gles

    v.intr.
    1. To have a prickling, stinging sensation, as from cold, a sharp slap, or excitement: tingled all over with joy.
and your tongue stinging. Jalapeno apricot glazed chicken wings Chicken Wings can refer to:
    • A type of food, a serving of the wing sections of a chicken. Deep fried wings coated in sauce are also known as Buffalo wings.
    • Chicken Wings, an aviation related comic by Michael and Stefan Strasser.
are easy to make and take only 30 minutes to bake.

And if you really want to go all out and throw a Super Bowl party, complete with a theme and enough food to feed the Eagles entire offense, you'd go Mexican and do what Cravings Catering Services did for The Register-Guard last week. You'd make a mess of Mexican food and divide your Super Bowl day into three food extravaganzas - pre-game, halftime and post-game.

Before kickoff, you'd serve chicken quesadillas with Monterey Jack cheese “Monterey Jack” redirects here. For other uses, see Monterey Jack (disambiguation).

Monterey Jack is a type of semi-hard cheese using cows milk. It is commonly sold by itself, or mixed with Colby cheese to make a marbled cheese known as Colby-Jack (or Co-Jack).
that melts in your mouth and nachos, along with plenty of ice-cold Corona beer - with a lime wedge, of course - and margaritas.

At halftime, during the big game's annual wardrobe malfunction Wardrobe malfunction is an euphemism used to describe the accidental exposure of an intimate part or parts of the body due to a defect in an article or articles of clothing. , you'd bring out the main course - chicken enchiladas that'll make you know you'll want seconds after just one bite. Add Mexican Caesar salad caesar salad

and tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa and sour cream.

"What's a Super Bowl without refried beans?" asks Lisa Fjordbeck, Craving's catering coordinator.

When it comes to serving your guests on Super Bowl Sunday, there are endless options to choose from. Just like when Cravings caters tailgate parties during football season at Autzen Stadium The stadium is tucked between the Willamette River and Coburg Hills. The uniquely shaped bowl blends in with the wooded Eugene landscape. The shape also allows for unique acoustics, making it one of the loudest stadiums in NCAA Football for its capacity. , the choice is yours, whether it's Mexican or Asian or a "retro" gig with corn dogs and hot dogs and whatever kind of dogs you cook up, says Dirk Brainerd, Cravings' owner.

"I don't watch football, never have," Brainerd says. "But this sounds like a fun menu to have if I were going to have a Super Bowl party."

The recipes provided below by Cravings are "user-friendly," Brainerd says. And they'll make your Super Bowl party a success, along with "lots of beer and a winning team," Fjordbeck jokes.

"The food, the beverage, good friends together," she says. "And I like the commercials."
