SUNBEAM-OSTER ANNOUNCES RELOCATION OF CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TO FLORIDA

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunbeam-Oster Company, Inc. (NYSE: SOC), today announced it will move corporate headquarters to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at the end of 1993. Sunbeam-Oster has been based in Providence since 1991.
"We are looking forward to joining the growing and dynamic business community in Fort Lauderdale," said Roger Schipke, chairman and chief executive officer.
Sunbeam-Oster said its decision followed a careful analysis of the economic and business climate of a number of potential locations. The primary reason cited for moving to South Florida is the excellent domestic and international air service provided by Fort Lauderdale International and Miami International Airports. This will enable the company's management to be closer to its manufacturing facilities throughout the South Eastern United States and Latin America.
"We are pleased to welcome one of the world's leading consumer product and appliance companies to South Florida," said Jim Naugle, mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale. "With over $1 billion in revenue and approximately 10,000 employees worldwide, Sunbeam-Oster will be one of South Florida's largest public companies," he added.
Sunbeam-Oster Company is a leading international consumer products company that develops, manufactures and markets a diversified portfolio of outdoor, household and specialty brand name products. The company's Sunbeam and Oster brands have been household names for generations and the company is a market share leader in many of its product categories.
