SUN VALLEY MOBILE HOME PARK TO SETTLE IN SUIT.

Byline: Terri Hardy Daily News Staff Writer

A Sun Valley mobile home park with "no children" restrictions is paying the price for alleged federal housing violations in a record-breaking $2.2 million settlement, a civil rights attorney announced Tuesday.

Managers of the Laurel Canyon Mobile Home Estates could not be reached for comment. But Traber said all park owners named in the suit denied allegations of discrimination as part of the settlement.

Traber said that even after the 1989 housing amendment was added, rules at Laurel Canyon Mobile Home Estates said "only persons over the age of 18 will be accepted as permanent residents."

While 24 families with children who applied despite the regulation were allowed to live there, Traber said she believes the "no children" policies kept other people away.
