SUN SHINES FOR ARBOR DAY.

The sun finally came out this weekend, just in time to shine on Arbor arbor

Saturday's festivities at Valle Lindo Park included the planting of three trees, demonstrations of police K9 and horse units, and activities for children.

Representatives from the Pleasant Valley Garden Club, California State University, Channel Islands California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) is a university located in Camarillo, California, in California's Ventura County. CSUCI opened in 2002 as the twenty-third campus in the California State University system, succeeding the Ventura County branch campus of  and the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Parks District were on hand as well, with displays and giveaways.

``All of this is the work of the girls,'' said Merri Williamson, the troop leader. ``They came up with the contact lists, they worked with all the groups and they were responsible for making sure everything came together.''

Of course, the one thing they couldn't plan was the weather, but that cooperated as well.

``It's just a great day to be outside, and we just happened upon this Arbor Day thing and thought it looked kind of fun,'' said Jackie Blake of Camarillo, who was out walking her dogs and her kids in the park.

``More trees is always a good thing.''

While National Arbor Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday of April, California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  designated March 7 as Arbor Day in the state.

``It doesn't really matter what day it is, this is just something nice like a family day in the park,'' said Jennifer Morris, a 15-year-old member of the troop.
