SUN HEALTHCARE GROUP INC. ACQUIRES THE OPERATIONS OF TWO LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES

 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Healthcare Group Inc. (NYSE: SHG) today announced that on Aug. 1, 1993, its wholly owned subsidiary, Sunrise Healthcare Corp., acquired the operations of a 160-bed long-term care facility in Phoenix and a 72-bed long-term care facility in Carlinville, Ill.
 Commenting on the transaction, Andrew Turner, the president and chairman of the board of Sun Healthcare, noted that: "These acquisitions are consistent with our goal to continue to expand our long-term care operations in the states in which we are currently doing business, while simultaneously looking for growth opportunities in other states not currently served by Sun Healthcare."
 Sun Healthcare Group Inc. currently operates 47 long-term care facilities with 5,272 beds in nine states through its subsidiary Sunrise Healthcare Corp., as well as providing institutional pharmacy services and rehabilitation therapy services through its subsidiaries, Sunscript Pharmacy Corp. and Sundance Rehabilitation Corp.
