Byline: Joe Stevens Staff Writer

LONG BEACH - Bo Outlaw Charles "Bo" Outlaw (born April 13, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American professional basketball player. Known for his tenacious defensive approach and abysmal free-throw shooting technique (.521 for his career).  stole a mop from a ball boy and wiped sweat off the Pyramid floor. Outlaw danced, made faces and at one point pretended to be seriously injured. He was fine, and for anyone who's been to the Summer Pro League The Summer Pro League, officially known as the The Southern California Summer Pro League (SPL) is a basketball league held every summer in Long Beach, California where first and second round draft picks in the NBA are able to improve their skills. , they saw similar behavior from the SPL (1) (Systems Programming Language) The assembly language for the HP 3000 series. But after Outlaw's team won its third consecutive SPL title Sunday, there was a new scene.  at the Pyramid. Williams had 35 points and 10 rebounds and showed why he has been invited to the Toronto Raptors' training camp.

``That's why I play - to help my teammates and let them show what they can do,'' Outlaw said.

Williams and Outlaw are connected because both attended the University of Houston. Williams left school after his junior season last year, wasn't drafted and was invited to the Atlanta Hawks' training camp. He didn't make the Hawks and spent last season playing in the National Basketball Developmental League for the Roanoke Dazzle, where he averaged 4.5 points and 2.6 rebounds.

If he wasn't dazzling with the Dazzle, he was in the SPL, where he played on the Raptors' SPL team and, on Sunday, constantly scored inside.

``I think I seriously have a shot,'' Williams said about making the Raptors' roster. ``Here at the summer league, I've shown what I can do, and that got me an invitation to training camp. Hopefully, I'll show them I can contribute.''

He contributed quickly Sunday, scoring 18 of his 35 points in the first quarter. The NBA Pros took a 22-point lead in the first quarter and led the entire game.

Hardaway finished with 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Outlaw had 18 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Those two Phoenix Suns were the only NBA players to see action for the NBA Pros, but the Boston Celtics' Paul Pierce was listed on the team's roster.
