In its eighth year, the conference is produced by the Silesian si·le·sia n. A sturdy twilled cotton fabric used for linings and pockets. [After Silesia.] Dance Theatre, director, Jacek Luminski, and United States partner Catherine Peila, and runs from June 24 through July 8, 2001. The festival boasts a strong roster of internationally known dance companies from more than fourteen countries, but also focuses on presenting companies from Poland and Eastern Europe, giving them a voice that has been absent from contemporary dance for fifty years. The White Oak Dance Project is expected to perform works by Lucinda Childs, John Jasperse, and Mark Morris in Warsaw, Krakow, and on the main stage in Bytom/Chorzow. Also from the United States are Philadanco, Helen Richardson, and Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company performing Millenium Bridge on the main stage. On the Visitor's Home Stage in Bytom, Risa Jaroslow and Dancers perform with the local Polish community. Expected also are the premiere of Silesian Dance Theater's End of the Rainbow end of the rainbow the unreachable end of the earth.
