SUBARU REPORTS SALES INCREASE FOR JULY
16.9 PERCENT INCREASE OVER JULY 1991
CHERRY HILL, N.J., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Subaru of America today reported its best total monthly sales results in almost two years despite an overall industry drop for July of 2.4 percent. Subaru sales for July 1992 were reported at 12,491, a 16.9 percent increase from July 1991 and its best total sales month since August 1989. Year-to-date, Subaru retail sales are up 10.6 percent over last year while total sales are down just 1.1 percent due to the company's conscious effort to reduce fleet sales by nearly 50 percent this year.
 Subaru Legacy
Sales of the Subaru Legacy model have totaled 38,773 units for the first seven months of this year. According to these figures and the company's competitive tracking data, this now places the Legacy as the third best selling major import compact, behind the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, but ahead of the Mazda 626, the Nissan Stanza, the Acura Integra and the Mitsubishi Galant.
 Subaru Loyale
For July, Subaru also posted its third consecutive all-time record sales for the Loyale line, its subcompact model, by logging in total sales of 5,853 units.
Subaru attributed its strong sales gains to its concentrated marketing, advertising and incentive programs.
