SUBARU ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY RECALL

CHERRY HILL, N.J., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Subaru of America announced today that it will conduct a voluntary recall of approximately 3,400 all-wheel-drive (AWD) Subaru Impreza Sport Wagon models.
These vehicles are being recalled for replacement of the fuel air vent pipe of the fuel filler system. All affected wagons were produced between November 1992 and March 1993.
During routine audit testing by the manufacturer, it was discovered that some vehicles may leak fuel if a rollover occurs after a rear-end collision. The fuel leakage could result from a crack that may occur in the fuel air vent rubber hose when it comes into contact with the fuel filler pipe. Should such fuel leakage occur in the presence of an ignition source, a fire could result without prior warning. There have been no reported accidents or injuries related to this condition.
All owners of affected vehicles are being notified by mail and asked to bring their car to any authorized Subaru dealer. At no cost to the owner, the fuel air vent pipe of the fuel filler system will be replaced with a modified piece.
