Incorporated's design of the Fire Department of New York's newest firehouse, Engine Company 277/Ladder 112, has received a prestigious award for excellence in design from the Art Commission of the City of New York. Engine Company 277/Ladder 112 is one of two public buildings projects designed last year for the city that were presented with this award. The Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg presented the award on July 12th during the 23rd Annual Art Commission Award reception at the Museum of Modern Art.

Engine Company 277/Ladder 112, located in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional firehouse. The objective of STV's design is to give this building presence and to create a new icon for the community. The three-story, stand-alone building is equally visible and striking from all angles. The curving pre-cast concrete panels of the residential floors sit like a sculpture on a base of cast stone housing the engine and ladder apparatus. At night, slotted windows, diffuse glass and exterior light fixtures will dramatically enhance the new firehouse. An art component is included in the building's design, in accordance with the Percent for Art program administered through the Department of Cultural Affairs. The New York City Department of Design and Construction was STV's client.
