STUDENTS TO PRESENT THEIR WRITINGS.

VALENCIA - Students from My Friend's Place who participated in a yearlong writing workshop sponsored by the CalArts Community Arts Partnership The Community Arts Partnership (usually known as CAP) was established in 1990,and is the first program of its kind in the U.S. The program links the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) to community art centers and public schools throughout Los Angeles County as part of an  will present a reading Wednesday from their recently published anthology, ``Mean Composition.''

 in Valencia teach homeless and runaway teens cared for at My Friend's Place in Hollywood.

The reading will be held at 1 p.m. at My Friend's Place, 5850 Hollywood Boulevard. The center is a safe, drop-in shelter that offers services and cultural activities for youths in need. The CalArts student instructors are Melanie Watts, Jared Elms and Anna Hawkey, under the direction of CalArts School of Critical Studies faculty Mady Schutzman and Jon Wagner.

The 14-year-old CAP program offers in-depth arts training programs free of charge for middle and high school students in jazz, printmaking printmaking

It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Youth Orchestra, Side Street Projects, My Friend's Place, Visual Communications, Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club, Self-Help Graphics, KAOS KAOS - Kent Applicative Operating System  Network, William Reagh Los Angeles Photography Center and Inner-City Arts.
