Rieman said Brow has the skills needed to become an accomplished chef. He was the first Granada Hills student to enter the demanding, two-hour contest. Brow said the urge to cook developed slowly. Before he enrolled in Rieman's course, he had taken auto shop and was preparing to join the Marine Corps in July. ``I wanted something new. I never thought about (cooking) as a career, and then it just launched,'' said Brow, who was inspired in part by family friend Matt Sutton, who trained as a chef at the famed Cordon Bleu School in Paris. ``He taught me. He showed me what can be done with cooking,'' Brow said. ``I learned I liked to do it.'' At home, Brow can be found mostly in the kitchen.
