STRAND ELECTED COMMUNITY FIRST BANKSHARES, INC. EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT - BANKING GROUP

 FARGO, N.D., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Community First Bankshares, Inc., (NASDAQ: CFBX) today elected Ronald K. Strand to the new position of executive vice president - banking group. He previously was the company's senior vice president and regional manager for affiliated banks in North Dakota and South Dakota.
 Strand joined the company in 1988 as president of Community First National Bank of Wahpeton, N.D., and as vice president and regional manager for North Dakota. He was named senior vice president in 1991.
 Before joining Community First, Strand spent 15 years with Norwest Bancorporation in positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as president of Norwest Bank of North Dakota, N.A., in Wahpeton.
 Headquartered in Fargo, Community First Bankshares has assets of $1.1 billion and 29 banking offices in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
