STORE OWNER SHOT TO DEATH AFTER SANTA PAULA ROBBERY.

SANTA PAULA Santa Paula (săn`tə pôl`ə), city (1990 pop. 25,062), Ventura co., S Calif., on the Santa Clara River in a fertile valley that yields citrus fruits, avocados, vegetables, flowers, nursery products, and walnuts; laid out 1875, inc.  - A 41-year-old Santa Paula man was found shot to death inside his clothing store Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:

 Clothing, 962 E. Main St., was found inside the store, and items of jewelry from a display case were stolen, according to police.

After responding to a 911 call shortly after midnight about a possible man down on the sidewalk in the 900 block of E. Main Street, police found nothing, but upon further investigation found Lizarraga's body inside the store.

An autopsy conducted late Sunday showed that Lizarraga died of multiple gunshots to the head, said Mitch Breese, a Ventura County deputy medical examiner A public official charged with investigating all sudden, suspicious, unexplained, or unnatural deaths within the area of his or her appointed jurisdiction. A medical examiner differs from a Coroner in that a medical examiner is a physician. .

The investigation is continuing.

Police said two weapons were found in the store, but they apparently belonged to the victim and were not used in the shooting.
