STONE & WEBSTER UNDERTAKES HYDROELECTRIC ASSIGNMENTS

 DENVER, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation today announced that it has been awarded separate contracts for hydroelectric work by Montana Power Company and the Eugene (Oregon) Water & Electric Board (EWEB).
 Stone & Webster is part of a joint venture which will engineer and build a new powerhouse and associated facilities for a 50-megawatt addition to Montana Power's hydroelectric plant at Thompson Falls on the Clark Fork of the Columbia River in northwest Montana. The total estimated cost of the project is $51.5 million. Construction work will begin soon.
 For EWEB, the company will engineer, design, procure equipment and provide construction monitoring, testing and start-up services for the Blue River Hydroelectric project located on the Blue River, approximately 40 miles east of Eugene. It will consist of a new powerhouse containing two units with a total installed capacity of approximately 25,000 kilowatts, a transmission line that will connect to the Bonneville Power Administration grid and an extensive fish protection system.
 Both projects are scheduled for completion in 1995.
