STM Signs Agreement with Satellite Mediaport Services (a SMS-Mach6 Company) for DVB-RCS Deployment.


Service to Target Africa and Middle East

IRVINE, Calif. -- STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope) A microscope that can image down to the atomic level. An STM uses a piezoelectric tube with a tiny sharp tip at the end that is moved within nanometers of the object being sampled.  Group announced today that, through its Middle East subsidiary, STMEA, it has entered into a value added service agreement with Satellite Mediaport Services Ltd (SMS (1) (Storage Management System) Software used to routinely back up and archive files. See HSM.

Starting in the second quarter of 2007, STM will use its Satlink DVB-S2 RCS Hub, hosted by SMS, to offer high quality, carrier class broadband and telephony services across Africa using the SES New Skies SES NEW SKIES, formerly New Skies Satellites (NSS), is a Dutch operator of communications spacecraft, owned by SES. On November 30, 1998, the Intelsat 703 spacecraft was transferred to New Skies’ control. New Skies operates this and four other spacecraft.  NSS-10 satellite. Under the terms of the agreement, STM will initially occupy 18 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  of capacity for private network customers and broadband-based services. The capacity will increase incrementally with traffic growth. Additionally, STM will supply a second Satlink Hub which SMS-Mach6, will operate from its facilities in Rugby, U.K. to provide Ku-Band services into the Middle East. Adding DVB-S2 modulation and coding to our Rugby facilities will make us more efficient. Jointly with STM, we'll be able to increase the quality of service to our customers."

The SMS-Mach6 teleport in Rugby is equipped with 9 antennas (11m to 5.6m) with top-of-the-line facilities for power protection, backup and multiple Tier-1 fiber connectivity.

Services into Africa will be marketed by STM, targeting clients who require satellite communication with high availability and superior quality.
