STILL SINGING A SONG OF SIXPENCE.

Byline: Sandra Barrera Staff Writer

Leigh Nash Leigh Bingham Nash (born June 27 1976) is a singer and composer, best known as the lead vocalist for the rock band Sixpence None the Richer[1]. Leigh is a self professed Born-again Christian. Biography
Nash was born Leigh Bingham in New Braunfels, Texas.
of Sixpence None the Richer Sixpence None the Richer was a Grammy-nominated Christian band that played pop/rock with roots in New Braunfels, Texas, eventually settling in Nashville, Tennessee. The name of the band is inspired by a passage in writer C. S. Lewis's Mere Christianity.  doesn't mind listening to a recording of her folk-pop group's 1999 hit, ``Kiss Me.''

But to play it?

``Yeah, well, performing it is becoming a little bit ... '' Nash chuckles and then says in her south Texas-style drawl drawl

Since the October release of the Sixpence None the Richer album ``Divine Discontent,'' the 26-year-old vocalist has been reviving this ubiquitous hit between some of the band's newer set.

Nash says the offers are still coming in, and that's good news considering that ``Divine Discontent'' is the band's first full-length studio release since 1997.

``A lot of people are still in the dark about the new record, which is understandable,'' Nash says. ``Everybody's got something they're trying to sell but hopefully, people will find us again.''

Sixpence None the Richer burst onto the music scene with ``Kiss Me'' after the song was played on the WB series ``Dawson's Creek Dawson's Creek is an American primetime television drama which aired from January 20, 1998, to May 14, 2003, on The WB Television Network. The lead production company was Sony Pictures Television. .''

It didn't hurt, either, that Nickelodeon included the band's cover version of ``There She Goes'' in the soundtrack to the film ``Snow Day.''

The band, meanwhile, had recorded a new album, which it was hoping would further fan the flames of success. But the album was held up for reasons that included the departure of drummer Dale Baker.

Nash, it was an amicable split.

``It was time for him to have a family and settle down, so we were definitely fine with that,'' she says. ``He's got a child now and they moved away from Nashville so it just became easier for us both to move on.''

Rob Mitchell is now drummer for Sixpence None the Richer. He appears on half of the band's new tracks, which Nash says she hopes goes over well these three years after ``Kiss Me.''

``Our job is definitely a lot harder than it would have been if the record had come out in a normal time frame, so we'll be staying really, really, really busy,'' she says. ``But it's fine.''
