Valentine's Day Lovers' holiday celebrated on February 14, the feast day of St. Valentine, one of two 3rd-century Roman martyrs of the same name. Another mystery: The culprit or culprits apparently sampled two cherry cordials out of a box of 10, rewrapped the box, retied the red bow and put it back in the display case. ``They're liquor cherry cordials,'' Sheftel said. ``It must have been kids. Maybe they didn't like them.'' Officers were called to the store Monday morning after a neighboring business owner noticed a broken window at The Candy Factory, which is closed Sunday and Monday. The culprits were long gone with their tasty loot. Sheftel puzzled that the thieves chose his store over a nearby computer learning center, a pizza restaurant or a drug store. ``Come on, it's a candy store,'' he said. LAPD 1. Detective Daniel Moran said the heist sounds like a typical smash-and-grab burglary with an unusual sweet twist. He said the suspects probably opted for a sugar buzz when they found the register lacked serious cash. ``We get window smashes from time to time,'' Moran said. ``Usually, it's young adults who break in and take cash.''
