STG announces $6.2m award of NOAA Grants Online; STG to design and implement backbone system to facilitate $750m in grants processing.

STG, Inc., a government information technology (IT), engineering, and scientific services provider, has announced a COMMITS award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for its Grants Online program. The contract life-cycle value is a firm-fixed price of $6.2M, which covers a base period plus 4 option years.

Under this performance-based contract, the STG team consisting of STG and BearingPoint, Inc., (NYSE:BE), one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, will develop, test, and deploy a web-based grants system that will eliminate duplication of data collection and data entry processes. The scope of the work includes the build out of an executable architecture, data migration and training, and Help Desk development and maintenance options.

Grants Online is a top priority for NOAA and its administrator, retired Navy Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Jr. NOAA's Corporate Strategic Plan calls for increased use of IT to improve internal and external services. Grants Online will provide a vehicle for NOAA to improve efficiency, accountability, and transparency of its administrative programs and services, including financial performance, grants management, and electronic government. This is a critical initiative for NOAA and will be the backbone to process more than $750M a year in grants, which represents more than 20 percent of NOAA's budget. Grants Online will improve IT efficiencies for all NOAA line offices and business units as they relate to the entire grant life cycle.

NOAA Administrator, VADM Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Jr., has been a strong advocate of grants efficiency improvements like Grants Online.
