STEWART & STEVENSON RECEIVES TWO CONTRACTS
STEWART & STEVENSON RECEIVES TWO CONTRACTS HOUSTON, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc.
(NASDAQ: SSSS), a leading manufacturer of diesel and gas turbine powered equipment, announced today that it has received two separate contracts for the purchase of six turbine generator sets. The combined value of the two contracts totals $70 million. The six units, powered by two General Electric LM5000 and four LM2500 gas turbines, will produce a combined 180 megawatts of electrical power. Two generators are scheduled for immediate delivery to Colombia, and the remaining four units will be shipped to Ecuador over the next 20 months. Stewart & Stevenson's factory packaging concept of building generator sets gives the company unique ability to make this rapid delivery.
Due to the severe electrical shortages in Central and South America, Stewart & Stevenson has strategically targeted these regions for its gas turbine products. These new contracts follow other recent orders Stewart & Stevenson has received from Guatemala, Venezuela and Brazil. -0- 7/16/92 /CONTACT: David R.
