NEW YORK, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Winthrop Inc. confirmed today that with its alliance partner, Elf Sanofi, the company has agreed to finalize, within the near future, an agreement in principle to acquire Dakota Pharma S.A., currently owned by Swiss chemical manufacturer Siegfried.

The alliance remains committed to growing its business both through existing business as well as other alliances, collaborations and acquisitions where possible. The decision to pursue the Dakota Pharma company is consistent with the alliance's commitment to strengthening its global marketing and sales infrastructures.
