STERLING BANK ELECTS PAUL J. DONAHUE DIRECTOR

    WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul J. Donahue has been elected to the board of directors of Sterling Bank, increasing the board to 13 members.
    Donahue is president and chief executive officer of Weston Associates, Boston, a real estate development firm that specializes in the construction and management of residential, retail and commercial properties.  In addition, he serves as vice president of the Boston University School of Management and is a trustee of the Pope John XIII Seminary, Weston, Mass.  He is a resident of Weston.
    John C. Warren, president and chief executive officer of Sterling Bank and Sterling Bancshares Corporation (NASDAQ: STLG), commented on the election, "We are very pleased to bring the talent and expertise of Mr. Donahue to our board and we look forward to his active participation as a member of the board."
