STATEMENT OF WNBC PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER WILLIAM BOLSTER

NEW YORK, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was issued today by WNBC-TV:
"We at WNBC-TV are pleased about the agreement announced today (August 17) between NBC and Time Warner Cable. The transaction recognizes the significant marketplace value of WNBC and NBC's other owned and operated stations and provides significant new value to the nearly one million Time Warner cable subscribers in our broadcast area.
"The agreement is also significant because it ensures that Time Warner's nearly one million subscribers in the New York metropolitan area, or about one-fourth of all cable subscribers, will continue to receive NBC and WNBC news, sports and entertainment programming.
"Today's agreement is only the first step in the process. We are continuing our negotiations with all the other cable operators serving the area."
