STATEMENT BY SLM INTERNATIONAL, INC. ON BUDDY L(R) SUPER CHARGER(TM)

NEW YORK, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- SLM International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLMI) responded today to issues raised regarding its new Buddy L(R) Super Charger(TM) alkaline battery recharger by reconfirming its product feature and benefit claims released yesterday.
"We made an announcement unveiling our Super Charger yesterday because we felt it was material information that all of our shareholders should know prior to the product's launch at the New York Toy Fair on Feb. 8, 1993," said Earl Takefman, SLM International's co-chief executive officer. "Those parties skeptical about our Super Charger are not knowledgeable about our product and its capabilities -- and are certainly not familiar with the documented results to date using all major-brand regular alkaline batteries. We are confident that the Super Charger works and works safely."
At present, testing is being conducted by ETL Testing laboratories, Inc. (ETL) to verify the Super Charger's compliance with various American National Standards as well as to determine the potential longevity of batteries recharged using the Super Charger. These tests are in addition to thousands of hours of testing already completed by the product's inventor, who is a university professor of engineering. Testing by ETL is being conducted in accordance with American National Standard ANSI/UL1012 (Power Units - Non Class II) and UL 1310 (Power Units - Class II). Although preliminary results do not constitute a final finding that the Super Charger complies with all UL Standards, to date no unsatisfactory test results have been encountered. The batteries under test have not experienced any discharge of internal matter, the temperature of the batteries have remained stable throughout recharging cycles and there have not been any extraneous emanations of harmful radiations due to testing. To date no final test results have been issued. A final report from ETL will be issued by SLM only when all testing has been completed.
