STATEMENT BY NEW DETROIT PRESIDENT HUBBARD ON QUAYLE'S COMMENTS
DETROIT, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- New Detroit, Inc. President Paul L. Hubbard issued the following statement today:
Dan Quayle's statement blaming most of the problems in Los Angeles on single-parent families avoids the real issue and I would hope that he will do more than blame the victims.
As vice president, Quayle needs to take the leadership and push for the family preservation bill, push for family programs to be set up in urban areas and also, put a lot of emphasis on making sure that we have day care for low-income children.
Because of his statement, he now has the opportunity to do something very positive by pushing for these things to be a major component of a badly needed urban agenda.
