 STATE-O-MAINE ANNOUNCES THIRD-QUARTER RESULTS
 NEW YORK, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Harvey Sanders, president of


State-O-Maine, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOME), a company engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of fine quality men's activewear, sportswear, outerwear and furnishings, announced today results for the third quarter ended Nov. 30, 1991.
 Third quarter 1991 sales from continuing operations reached a record of $48,865,475, an increase of 16 percent over the $42,048,436 from continuing operations posted in the corresponding 1990 quarter. Net earnings from continuing operations were $3,205,539 (64 cents per share) compared to $1,845,837 (37 cents per share) in the third quarter of 1990, an increase of 74 percent. The increase in income from continuing operations was primarily due to increased sales of Nautica products.
 For the nine months ended Nov. 30, 1991, record sales from continuing operations were $92,949,146, compared with $76,851,035 recorded in the corresponding period in 1990, an increase of 21 percent. Income from continuing operations was $5,441,039 ($1.08 per share) compared to $2,808,970 in the prior-year period (57 cents per share), an increase of 94 percent.
