Political Experience: 19-year member of the Leominster City Council; appointed to the city's Industrial Development Commission, served eight years.

Issues: Finances: holding down spending, maximizing state aid. Does not support ballot initiative to eliminate income tax, but favors rolling back taxes to 5 percent as voters indicated in a referendum vote. Other concerns are exploring options for alternative energy, veterans' issues and public safety. Supports civil unions, but believes marriage is between a man and a woman. Supports the death penalty in extreme cases, such as murder involving rape, murder of a police officer and murder involving a hate crime.

Political experience: Leominster School Committee, six years; Leominster City Council, 15 years; Massachusetts Municipal Association, 1996 to present; appointed to the Governor's Local Government Advisory Commission and served as chairwoman.

Issues: Understands citizens' frustrations with government and feels budget priorities need to be better established. Other concerns: funding for public education; veterans' issues; infrastructure repair to reservoirs, roads and bridges; drinking water issues; increased support for public safety. Supports civil unions. Opposes death penalty but supports strengthening the penal system.

Ballot questions:

Income tax repeal: No.

Marijuana decriminalization: No.

Ban on dog racing: Yes.

Personal: Widow of Vietnam combat veteran Ronald Freda; daughter and son, one grandson.
