STATE OF THE ART INC. APPOINTS JAMES M. HENNINGS TO DIRECTOR
OF DEVELOPER AND INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS
Had Been Former President of ADD+ON(TM) Software
IRVINE, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- James M. Hennings, former president of ADD+ON(TM) Software, has been appointed to the newly created strategic position of director of Developer and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Relationships at accounting software developer State Of The Art Inc. (NASDAQ: SOTA), according to David S. Samuels, president and chief executive officer. Hennings resigned last week following the acquisition of ADD+ON Software by accounting software developer Open Systems Inc. of Minneapolis.
"Master Developers are an elite group of our Authorized Resellers and Consultants who play a vital role at State Of The Art. They are licensed to access M-A-S 90(R) EVOLUTION/2(TM) source code and, as a result, create valuable niche vertical market products and write unique application capabilities that broaden the reach of our product," said Samuels.
"The growing importance of the Master Developers program now requires a dedicated full-time professional with Jim's in-depth expertise to build on the innovative programs we currently have in place," Samuels continued. "Jim will be responsible for the development and implementation of new strategic partnerships and programs with our Master Developers on a national level. As director of Developer and ISV Relationships, Jim will spearhead our first Master Developers Council Meeting on May 9th.
"As a result of M-A-S 90 EVOLUTION/2's popularity and momentum, we have been approached by numerous independent software vendors who have products they would like to integrate with M-A-S 90. Jim will assist us in capitalizing on these opportunities which will benefit ISVs, our broad base of Authorized Resellers and Consultants, and our end-users," Samuels continued. "This is clearly a key addition to our top management team, and a position that will significantly contribute to further market penetration of our high-end accounting software solutions."
In his new position, Hennings reports directly to State Of The Art's president and chief executive officer and will become a member of the President's Executive Management team. Responsible for the strategic direction of the Master Developers Program, Hennings will conceive and monitor all Master Developer marketing, training and support programs. He will also identify, authorize and license new Master Developers.
With respect to independent software vendor relationships, Hennings will identify key strategic marketing partnership opportunities for State Of The Art. In addition, he will negotiate and manage any special agreements between the company and the ISV's and develop marketing programs to support their software products.
Before joining ADD+ON in 1985, Hennings last served as vice president of marketing for State Of The Art. He was instrumental in directing all marketing activities for the company's Authorized Resellers and Consultants. Hennings was also involved in the initial product introduction for State Of The Art in 1982.
Hennings received his bachelor of science degree in information and computer sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and his master of science in computer and information science from Ohio State University.
Founded in 1981, State Of The Art develops and markets high-end accounting software for microcomputers.
