STATE ASSEMBLY: SHARON RUNNER HOLDS STRONG LEAD OVER PALMDALE'S LEDFORD.

PALMDALE -- Assemblywoman Sharon Runner Sharon Runner (born May 17 1954, Los Angeles) is a Californian politician. She has been a member of the California State Assembly since 2002. Runner, a Republican from Antelope Valley represents the 36th district.  held a strong lead over Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford's primary challenge to her re-election in incomplete returns Tuesday night.

Ledford challenged Runner for the Republican nomination for the 36th District seat, in which Runner is finishing her second term representing the Antelope and Victor valleys.

The Republican primary winner will face Palmdale School District The Palmdale School District is a school district that serves a major part of the city of Palmdale, California (USA).

The Palmdale School District was first formed in 1888. Approximately 28,000 students are enrolled in the Palmdale School District.

In the Democratic primary race for the 43rd District seat being vacated by Assembly majority leader Dario Frommer Dario Frommer (born October 22, 1963 in Long Beach, California) was a member of the California State Assembly from 2000 until 2006. He served as Majority Leader from 2004 until 2006. Frommer also served as Chair of the Health Committee. , Burbank school board member Paul Krekorian Paul Krekorian was elected in 2006 to serve California's 43rd Assembly District, which includes the cities of Glendale and Burbank and the Los Feliz, Silver Lake, North Hollywood, Valley Glen, Toluca Lake, Atwater Village and Valley Village communities of Los Angeles.  was ahead of Glendale City Councilman Frank Quintero.

The winner will face Republican Michael Agbaba and Libertarian Steve Myers, the only candidates for their parties' nominations.

Frommer, a Glendale Democrat who has been the area's assemblyman since 2000, is leaving office because he has served the three terms allowed under California law California Law consists of 29 codes, covering various subject areas, the State Constitution and Statutes. See also

In the 39th Assembly District, state Sen. Richard Alarcon, D-Van Nuys, is the only candidate from any party. He is termed-out of his state senate office and will fill the seat held by Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez, D-Mission Hills, who is running for Alarcon's Senate seat.

In the 38th Assembly District representing Santa Clarita and the northern San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita City Councilman Cameron Smythe was ahead for the Republican nomination and Lyn Shaw was ahead among Democrats.

The district seat is being vacated by Keith Richman.
