STATE'S MOVE TO JOIN MEGA MILLIONS SPARKS DEBATE.

SACRAMENTO - Mega Millions Mega Millions is a multi-state US$1 lottery game in the United States. Here are details about the Mega Millions lotto game that the California Lottery is joining:

DRAWINGS: Tuesdays and Fridays. Sales for the first game involving California start today at stores that sell lottery tickets. Drawings for California's own lotto game will continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

JACKPOTS: Lottery officials predict that with California joining Mega Millions, jackpots could reach $400 million or even $500 million. Mega Millions had a $363 million jackpot - the nation's record - in May 2000 and a $331 million jackpot in April 2002.
