STARS TEAM SHOWERED WITH DANCE AWARDS AT CONTEST.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Members of the Santa Clarita STARS Junior National Dance Team had to make room for all the trophies they brought home recently from the Kids Artistic Revue revue, a stage presentation that originated in the early 19th cent. as a light, satirical commentary on current events. It was rapidly developed, particularly in England and the United States, into an amorphous musical entertainment, retaining a small amount of  dance competition in Long Beach.

The team won a ``high'' second place for jazz in the 7-8 age group for ``Witch Doctor witch doctor: see medicine man; shaman. ,'' a first place for age 13-14 performing to ``Deep River,'' a ``top'' first for ``Zero to Hero'' in the 9-10 age group and a first for the 11-12 age division performing to ``Work Me down.''

``Work Me Down'' placed fourth overall, ``Zero to Hero'' placed 10th overall, and the age 9-10 team was also named the Most Entertaining Group in the Intermediate Division.

 received a top first, Caitlin Kube won first place and Chelsea Raff received a top first. Andee Scaife and Chelsea Van Name received a first place in the duet competition, Tracey Bernardo and Riley Bennett received first place and Bayley and Raff a top first and a sixth overall, while Scaife and Van Name placed 10th overall.

Elite soloists were Toni-Marie Beets, who received first place; Kaitlyn Shipley, top first; Amanda Beets, top first; Heather Gordon, top first; and Amanda Santos Santos (sän`ts), city (1996 pop. 412,288), São Paulo state, SE Brazil, on the island of São Vicente in the Atlantic just off the mainland. , first place. The top first award for duet/trio went to Amanda Beets, Santos and Shipley for their dance to ``It's Raining Men,'' which also won for the Most Entertaining Performance in the Elite Division.

Shipley won Best costume costume, distinctive forms of clothing, including official or ceremonial attire such as ecclesiastical vestments, coronation robes, academic gowns, armor, and theatrical dress.  and the Elite Solo Top Five winners were Amanda Beets (5), Gordon (4) and Shipley (3). The 2003 All Star KAR Kids Award in the Elite Division went to Amanda Beets, Gordon, Santos and Shipley.
