``This award is not only for John Wayne's career, but he was a longtime supporter of the fund,'' Michael Wayne said.

Lined up to present the awards were Richard Anderson, Harry Carey Jr., Charlton Heston and Karl Malden; Dale Robertson was tapped to serve as master of ceremonies at the $175-per-person gala.

Other Golden Boot winners over the past 13 years have included Gene Autry, Clint Eastwood, Jack Palance, Jane Fonda, Clayton Moore, Iron Eyes Cody Iron Eyes Cody (April 3, 1904 – January 4, 1999) was an actor born in Gueydan, Louisiana. He was born Espera De Corti, the son of Sicilian immigrants Francesca Salpietra and Antonio De Corti. , Will Rogers, Tex Ritter, Slim Pickens, Sam Peckinpah, Tom Selleck and Michael Landon.
