STAR TREK STYLE; `VOYAGER' ACTRESS JERI RYAN SHEDS HER CATSUIT.

Jeri Ryan Jeri Lynn Ryan (born February 22, 1968) is an American actress who came to fame as the ex-Borg Seven of Nine on . Biography
Childhood
Ryan was born Jeri Lynn Zimmerman in 1968 in Munich, Germany, to American parents; she has one older brother, Mark.
plays a space alien called Seven of Nine, but on the beach, she's a 10.

On a cold, rainy day in Ventura County, the solar siren from ``Star Trek Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled due to vandalism. : Voyager'' shivered as she modeled the season's newest swim suits for the Daily News and laughed at her new-found status as one the sexiest women on television.

``I'm both flattered and frustrated, but having fun and going along for the ride. And although I work a frantic schedule, I keep in mind I'm living the dream,'' says Ryan, as she slips into a futuristic Anne Klein Anne Klein (August 3, 1923 - March 19, 1974) was an American fashion designer whose label was continued by designer Donna Karan after Anne Klein's death.

Rain? Swimsuits?

``This is easy. On the set I spend up to 18 hours a day in a spandex catsuit cat·suit

with a built-in corset corset, article of dress designed to support or modify the figure. Greek and Roman women sometimes wrapped broad bands about the body. In the Middle Ages a short, close-fitting, laced outer bodice or waist was worn. By the 16th cent.  that takes 20 minutes to get into and 42 minutes to get out of when I have to go to the bathroom,'' she explained.

In a recent magazine article, Ryan's character is described as ``whip-smart,'' with ``an often-scary performance,'' yet looks like a space babe. Says Ryan, ``I don't feel offended. It would be a different issue if she were a bimbo character, but I have no problem with her being overly sexy. And although I refused the role at first, Seven will constantly change, becoming more human ... and hopefully ... lose the cranial cranial /cra·ni·al/ (-al)

She ought to know. The National Merit Scholar and graduate of Northwestern University has paid her dues as a print model (she says she was terrible), a beauty queen (she was a state winner but doesn't want to talk about it), and star of the quickly canceled ``Dark Skies'' before getting to play the multi-dimensional Seven.

Now she gets fan mail by the truckload. And for all of those fans, she wants to make it clear that her space suit is not enhanced. It's all her, and she thinks the talk about her bust size has been blown out of proportion.

``The first suit I wore on the show was silver and it was too reflective, and the wide-angle lenses might have given the wrong impression ... so we changed the mechanics of the suit and the color,'' she said.

Now she's usually seen in a boring brown catsuit, but she wears 4-inch heels (size 8-1/2) to get that commanding presence on board the Voyager.

After watching her on TV as well as posing in swimsuits with a cool 'tude that matches her icy blue eyes, one wonders if Seven is Ryan's alter ego A doctrine used by the courts to ignore the corporate status of a group of stockholders, officers, and directors of a corporation in reference to their limited liability so that they may be held personally liable for their actions when they have acted fraudulently or unjustly or when . She explodes with laughter. ``My husband wishes it were. He thinks she's the perfect woman, meaning she looks good in a catsuit, is efficient and always on time.''

More show-biz trivia. Yes, that was Ryan singing in the recent episode that featured Seven as a '40s torch singer and spy in a little day dress right out of ``Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde

``I loved the '40s piece. Women were beautiful then, and men were dashing. It was a very fashionable, classy era and Lauren Bacall was the epitome of elegance and sophistication so·phis·ti·cate

The actress also likes the '50s, when curvy starlets like Marilyn Monroe posed in swimsuits with high-heeled shoes and the bikini made its debut, but she claims her torso is too long for the look. She also doesn't like the boy legs of the '60s that are making a splash again, and wouldn't even try on the lingerie suit with the ruffled ruf·fle 1

For those who do want to try the retro looks, there are numerous options to choose from this season - from the '50s ruffled gingham bikini to the '60s two-piece suits that feature lace-up fronts, boy legs and halter halter

tops, and the '70s string style with two triangles to cover the chest.

For young moderns, there's the lingerie look in bikinis with underwire cups and lacy trims much like the undergarments featured in Frederick's of Hollywood Frederick's of Hollywood is a well known retailer of lingerie in the United States, with stores in many modern shopping malls across the USA.

(graduated) stripes are old faves we're seeing again, but the African safari prints with matching sarongs in sheer fabrics look newest.

And Ryan's swimsuit preference? She likes one-piece suits that are cut high on the thigh ... which happen to be a hot ticket this season.

That popular one-piece suit of the past - the one that doesn't look like a thong in the back or have French-cut legs that illuminate thunder thighs - is perhaps the happiest news in swimsuit trends. A classic silhouette that suits most figures, you'll see it in solid colors with photo-print designs, evening gown fabrics like silver lame or crushed velvet and futuristic designs with cut-outs at the shoulder or waist.

Ryan's pick is right on target. Maybe she really does have some insight on the future.
