STANDING ROOM ONLY; NOVELTY RIDDLES FUTURE THRILL RIDE.

Byline: Mary Schubert Daily News Staff Writer

The Riddler has been the enigma of Gotham City and a baffling baf·fle

In a few months, he will be the namesake for a 65-mph roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Magic Mountain is an amusement park located just west of the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. It opened on Memorial Day weekend on May 29, 1971 as Magic Mountain, by the Newhall Land and Farming Company,[1] .

The Riddler's Revenge, currently under construction at the Valencia amusement park, will be ``the world's tallest, fastest and most powerful stand-up stand·up or stand-up

156 feet at one point, and loop around a neighboring ride, Free Fall, at another, said Magic Mountain spokeswoman Bonnie Rabjohn.

At nearly three minutes in length, the new ride also will become the longest of Magic Mountain's roller coaster fleet. Riders, in rows of four and secured by an over-the-shoulders harness, will snake along almost one mile of track - encountering six inside loops that will spiral, twist and corkscrew corkscrew

``The big draw of this ride is the stand up (feature),'' Rabjohn said. ``We have one now that your feet dangle dangle Nursing A popular term for the first movement a Pt is allowed, either after surgery under general anesthesia, or 'under local', where the recuperee allows his/her feet to dangle over the side of the bed , one with the traditional wood, and now a stand-up.''

Rabjohn said that although stand-up roller coasters aren't new on the amusement park circuit, ``this is the next generation - tallest, fastest and the most loops.''

Passengers are bound to get wobbly-kneed during The Riddler's Revenge. ``Three minutes of ride time is a long time, especially if you're traveling at 65 mph and turning upside down several times,'' Rabjohn said.

``We must continue to push the envelope and give our guests what they want - the latest and most innovative thrill rides available,'' Larry Bouts, chairman and chief executive officer of Six Flags Theme Parks Inc. said in a statement.

Recent parkgoers may have noticed a construction zone fenced off from visitors by bright green boards painted with black question marks. And along the edges of Magic Mountain's vast parking lots, numbered sections of the curving steel track - which park spokesman Andy Gallardo described as ``electric-lime green'' - lie in rows, awaiting assembly.

The Riddler's Revenge will become the centerpiece of a new 4.9-acre themed area to be called The Movie District. Designed to resemble a studio backlot backlot

, The Movie District will have restaurants, souvenir shops and facades that tie in with the entertainment industry theme.

As Magic Mountain's 11th roller coaster, The Riddler's Revenge will be the third based on a DC Comics character - joining Batman The Ride and Superman The Escape.

As they wait in line for the ride, park visitors will enter the neon green industrial laboratory of mad scientist Edward Nygma, alter ego A doctrine used by the courts to ignore the corporate status of a group of stockholders, officers, and directors of a corporation in reference to their limited liability so that they may be held personally liable for their actions when they have acted fraudulently or unjustly or when  of The Riddler. They will then board bullet-nosed trains that will first climb 16 stories and then plunge almost straight down at 65 mph.

Rabjohn said riders then will be propelled into a 124-foot-tall vertical loop, through two over-the-top diving loops, through a 360-degree loop, a 250-foot-long spiral and then two more times through barrel rolls. The ride was designed and engineered by Bolliger and Mabillard, a Swiss firm that also created the Batman roller coaster, she said.

Six Flags officials typically decline to reveal financial and attendance figures for Magic Mountain, and Tuesday they would say only that The Riddler's Revenge amounted to ``the largest capital investment in the company's history.''

``Six Flags Magic Mountain frequently leads the way . . . and is frequently the first to introduce a major new attraction,'' said Paul Ruben, a roller coaster historian and North American North American
