ENCINO - Hoping to build bigger audiences for its Internet animations, Stan Lee Media Stan Lee Media (SLM) was an Internet-based creation, production and marketing company that created branded super hero franchises for applications in all media. Its 165 man animation production studio was based in Los Angeles, California from 1998- 2001.  Inc. said Friday that ``Webisodes'' of its superheroes Superheroes are fictional heroes who possess abilities beyond those of normal human beings.

Superheroes may also refer to:
  • Superheroes (band), a Danish pop/rock band
  • Superheroes (album), by American heavy metal band Racer X
  • Superheroes
 and other shows will no longer be shown exclusively through shockwave.com.

Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922[1]) is an American writer, editor, former Chairman of Marvel Comics, and memoirist.
, famed co-creator of classic characters such as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk and the X-Men, wants to build cyber-communities where fans of his new characters can play games, download pictures and chat.

That kind of interaction was not possible on shockwave.com, which simply allowed people to view the entertainment it hosted for Stan Lee Media, a digital entertainment studio.

 the deal under which shockwave.com got exclusive distribution rights in exchange for an early investment, said Stan Lee Media's president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. ``We felt it would be better to turn it into a less restrictive agreement,'' Williams said. ``We are very indebted to the early support they gave us. It really got us to the point we're at now.''

As part of the changes, Rob Burgess, chairman and chief executive officer of shockwave.com Inc.'s parent company, Macromedia Inc., will resign from the Stan Lee Media board. Williams will fill the vacancy.

For the immediate future, Stan Lee's new creations like ``The Drifter'' and ``7th Portal'' will still be hosted by shockwave.com.

``Fans of Stan Lee Media properties can continue to view the Webisodes on shockwave.com,'' said Lawrence Levy, president and CEO of shockwave.com. ``As investors in Stan Lee Media, shockwave.com looks forward to the new properties from this talented team.''

Stan Lee Media will likely develop or co-product Web sites to show and promote its new characters and creations, said spokeswoman Jennifer Frederick. A prototype of the new sites already exists for the animation project Stan Lee did for The Backstreet backstreet

The company is currently developing similar projects involving rapper Mary J. Blige and material from late ``Star Trek'' creator Gene Roddenberry.

Also on Friday, Stan Lee Media said it has signed a five-year agreement with Kentucky based sports management firm OMS OMS - Opportunity Management System  Ltd. to create superhero su·per·he·ro

The two companies will develop ``animated brand extensions'' of the athletes for various media, with Stan Lee Media retaining sole rights to distribute the projects on Internet, home video, cable, satellite and other media including traditional licensing and merchandising.

``Motorcycle racing has always been considered the original extreme sport, and extreme sports are enjoying tremendous growth and popularity worldwide today,'' said OMS Ltd. managing director Fred Bramblett.
