SSP Solutions announces $1.2m contract award.

SSP Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:SSPX) also known as SSP-Litronic, a provider of identity and information assurance products and services has announced the award of a $1.2 million contract from the Department of Defense (DoD). Under the terms of the contract, SSP-Litronic will provide both digital certificate management and smart card applications in support of the DoD's Information Assurance (IA) strategy and roadmap. SSP-Litronic's core security products continue to perform valuable functions as part of the DoD's Layered Defense in Depth approach to Information Assurance.

SSP-Litronic has a long association with the government in developing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions and technologies to protect vital information. Since the early 1990s, SSP-Litronic has provided PKI products and services to some of the earliest FORTEZZA systems, the currently deployed Defense Messaging System (DMS) program and Class 3 PKI, and the DoD Common Access Card (CAC) ID program. SSP-Litronic is a primary provider of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) enterprise solutions with DoD PKI capabilities. Public Key technology and applications are a critical component of the key management service layer, an important part of the DoD's overall Layered Defense in Depth posture. A layered defense is an architecture where there are multiple, progressive layers of integrated capabilities of people, operations, and technology to establish a multi-layer, multi-dimensional protection--like the defenses of a castle.

SSP-Litronic's existing product line of COTS solutions include Profile Manager--a comprehensive lifecycle management application for digital credentials and tokens; NetSign Common Access Card (CAC) application--a smart card client solution ensuring network security and desktop protection for Common Access Card (CAC) ID; and the USA Forte smart card--a high assurance token with a dual ISO and USB interface.
