"One of the biggest benefits of the SEEC solutions is the robustness of their verification and validation Verification and Validation (V&V) is the process of checking that a product, service, or system meets specifications and that it fulfills its intended purpose. These are critical components of a quality management system such as ISO 9000.  tool-sets, particularly in the COBOL arena," said Patrick Burke Patrick Burke may refer to:

, vice president and director of year 2000 services at SRA. "They provide full life-cycle support right through the critical testing phase of the process. That's very important, because it's not enough to simply verify remediated code. Ultimately, you also need to test any potential problem areas. Using SEEC's solutions we can rapidly identify the test paths and coverage required to focus our testing, measure and document everything we are doing, and complete the process thoroughly and efficiently. As an added benefit, the SEEC technology also will be useful for post-year 2000 maintenance and reengineering."

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget recently reported that U.S. government agencies have increased their cost estimates for year 2000 projects to $6.8 billion (for 1996-2000), a jump of $400 million since November 1998. The spending rise is attributed in part to the need for more thorough independent verification, and to the costs for additional remediation work as a result of the verification results. Federal agencies plan to spend $2.6 billion in the current fiscal year and more than $600 million next year to complete their year 2000 work.

"Many organizations have a false sense of security about their year 2000 readiness, despite compelling evidence that some remediation projects have fallen short of the mark," said Ravi Koka, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Koka added: "We are very pleased to be working with SRA, which has a well-deserved reputation for quality and service in the federal marketplace. Their selection of our verification and validation solutions is a strong endorsement for our technology and methodology. We look forward to helping SRA bring this year 2000 project to a smooth, successful completion, and to strengthening and deepening our relationship in the years to come."
