SQA and Oracle sign strategic marketing and technology agreement.

WOBURN, Mass --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dec. 21, 1994 -- SQA Inc., the leader in automated testing for Windows client/server applications, today announced a strategic marketing and technology agreement with Oracle Corp.

SQA and Oracle will offer tighter integration between SQA TeamTest, the leading automated Windows client/server test tool, and Oracle Cooperative Development Environment 2 (CDE2). SQA TeamTest currently supports Oracle's CDE product and is currently in use at Oracle customer sites.

Solutions Group, a New Zealand-based software development company, is developing a new suite of applications using Oracle CDE2 and SQA TeamTest. "Our practice management system, Keystone, contains over 25 products, which makes the testing effort substantial because of complex business functions as well as the technical challenges of event-driven, GUI applications," explained Graeme Frost, managing director at Solutions. "We have directly benefited by using SQA TeamTest to test our Oracle CDE2 applications. We chose SQA TeamTest because of its Oracle CDE2 support; it has helped us meet the quality challenges of client/server development. The SQA/Oracle agreement is very positive because it will provide tighter integration between SQA TeamTest and Oracle CDE2, thus streamlining our development and quality assurance processes."

Under the terms of the agreement, SQA will assist Oracle in jointly developing an application programming interface (API) for test tools that will provide tighter integration between Oracle's CDE2 family of products and SQA TeamTest.

As a part of the agreement, SQA has joined Oracle's Cooperative Development Environment 2 (CDE2) Open Initiative, a fully integrated, comprehensive solution for developing open, enterprise client/server systems. Oracle's CDE2 Open Initiative brings Oracle and other industry leaders together to integrate leading applications development technology and provide developers with the industry's most open and comprehensive development environment. CDE2 Open Initiative members fall into one of several categories including testing tools, transaction processing (TP) monitors, workflow automation, version control and configuration management tools.

Oracle Cooperative Development Environment 2 (CDE2)

Oracle Cooperative Development Environment 2 (CDE2), Oracle's suite of products for client/server development, allows users to easily develop applications that scale from the single user to enterprise wide deployment. CDE2 is comprised of products in three areas - CDE2 Data Access, CDE2 Tools and CDE2 CASE - all of which allow 100 percent exploitation of Microsoft Windows functionality in both development and run-time environments, including support for Microsoft's Object Linking and Embedding 2.0 (OLE2) and Visual Basic Extensions 3 (VBX3).
