Incidents

FRIDAY, JUNE 29

Assault: 12:29 a.m., 500 block 21st Street. A man in his 50s reportedly punched a woman, breaking her nose.

Injured animal: 9:45 a.m., 700 block 28th Street. Parole officers serving a warrant found an injured dog in the home of the subject.

Forgery: 12:41 p.m., 4100 block Main Street. An employee at a fast food restaurant reported that a man attempted to pay for his meal with a counterfeit $10 bill.

Downed power line: 1:14 p.m. 69th and Main streets. A caller reported that a power line was hanging low over Main Street west of 69th street. The line turned out to be a cable company line. The company was called for repairs.

Burglary: 1:39 p.m., 800 block South 57th Street. An apartment manager reported that a former employee had refused to turn in the keys to the office when he was terminated. The man reportedly stole tools from the location that night.

Theft: 1:58 p.m., 5700 block Main Street. A gas station employee reported that a male driving a black 1983 Chevrolet Blazer The Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy names were used on two different early SUV models:
  • The full-size K5 Blazer and Jimmy were produced from 1969 on the C/K pickup truck chassis.
 drove off without paying for $10 in fuel.

ID theft: 2:53 p.m., 1200 block E Street. A caller reported that a cell phone account was opened by using her name without authorization.

: 2:57 p.m., 1900 block Mohawk Boulevard. A resident reported that there was a strong odor of natural gas in the building. The building was evacuated for investigation.

Forgery: 3:19 p.m., 5700 block Main Street. A male reportedly presented a counterfeit $10 bill at a loan office.

Forgery: 4:19 p.m., 100 block West Q Street. A forged check was reportedly used for payment at a local business.

Theft: 5:44 p.m., 200 block 41st Street. A caller reported that a neighbor stole his deceased mother's checks and cashed them at a check cashing business.

Burglary: 6:50 p.m., 5400 block A Street. Juveniles were reportedly vandalizing an apartment complex, stealing clothing and trying to break into a home.

Dispute: 7:46 p.m., 3000 block Gateway Street. A caller reported that a male was chasing a female down the street and yelling that he was going to kill her.

Shot fired: 10:18 p.m., 54th and A streets. A caller reported hearing a single gun shot. Other callers reported that the noise was merely fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.

SATURDAY, JUNE 30

Dispute: 12:45 a.m., Seventh and M streets. A large group of teens were reportedly fighting in the area. The caller reported that one of the juveniles said he possessed a knife.

Robbery: 7:59 a.m., 1600 block I Street. Two males detained de·tain

 another male after he reportedly stole their mother's purse from her vehicle. Police arrested the man on several charges.

Theft: 10:51 a.m., 1200 block F Street. A caller reported that her dog was stolen from her back yard.

Broken railroad barrier: 4:18 p.m., South 57th Place and Vernon Road. The gate arm at a railroad crossing was broken following a traffic accident. The rail company was called to repair the damage.

Dispute: 8:43 p.m., Gateway Street and Gateway Loop. A caller reported that a male was hitting a female and pulling her hair.

Dispute: 10:21 p.m., 1000 block S Street. A caller reported that, after arguing with a neighbor, the neighbor stood outside his home and fired a gun into the air.

SUNDAY, JULY 1

Dispute: 12:25 a.m., 3700 block International Court. A caller reported observing a physical altercation between a male and a female at a local motel.

Prowler: 3:39 a.m., 5200 block Leota Street. A loud noise was heard outside a caller's residence. The caller believes a prowler was scared off after she turned on the lights.

Burglary: 9:21 a.m., 900 block V Street. Audio equipment and a digital camera were reportedly stolen from a home following a break-in.

Forgery: 9:24 a.m., 5700 block Main Street. A counterfeit $10 bill was reportedly received at a local business during the night. The business forwarded video surveillance footage to the police.

Burglary: 12:33 p.m., 6300 block Main Street. A caller reported returning to her vacant apartment she was in the process of moving from to find broken beer bottles and vomit vomit /vom·it/ (vom´it)

 on the floor. The caller dropped charges when she discovered the men who left the mess were acquaintances of her boyfriend.

Theft: 1:41 p.m., 200 block South Fifth Street. An employee at a local business reported that two men made off with a tip jar with approximately $10 inside. The men returned the jar but took the cash.

Reckless endangerment: 2:36 p.m., 300 block 30th Street. A caller reported that a female was driving with an infant on her lap and talking on a cell phone.

Shots fired: 3:07 p.m., 21st and Olympic streets. Three to four shots were reportedly fired in the vicinity.

Robbery: 3:42 p.m., 1700 block Main Street. A cell phone, personal identification and a bank card were reportedly stolen at a local motel.

Theft: 5:38 p.m., 1000 block Fifth Street. A local resident caught a neighbor entering his home and stealing a small amount of cash.

Theft: 8:13 p.m., 1800 block Pioneer Parkway. A theft suspect allegedly physically harassed a police officer and resisted arrest.

MONDAY, JULY 2

Criminal trespass trespass, in law, any physical injury to the person or to property. In English common law the action of trespass first developed (13th cent.) to afford a remedy for injuries to property. : 3:31 a.m., 500 block Harlow Road. A local business owner reported that a male was inside his dumpster and refused to leave. The caller reported that he has had problems with the subject attempting to steal personal information out of the dumpster in the past. The subject was given a trespass notice.

Prowler: 4:56 a.m., 2700 block Centennial Boulevard. A male was discovered outside a caller's home, possibly attempting to break in.

Theft: 5:54 a.m., 800 block A Street. A kayak kayak (kī`ăk), Eskimo canoe, originally made of sealskin stretched over a framework of whalebone or driftwood. It is completely covered except for the opening in which the paddler sits.  was reportedly stolen from its secured location on top of the owner's vehicle.

Assault: 5:23 p.m., 300 block South D Street. An apartment manager reported that he was assaulted by a tenant.

Explosion: 6:16 p.m., 58th and E streets. An anonymous caller reported that a small bomb caused a fire in a field near a power pole power pole

Illegal fireworks: 9:33 p.m., 49th Street and 49th Place. A caller reported that a fire was started in a yard after several subjects were setting off illegal fireworks.

Reckless endangering: 9:57 p.m., Main and 54th streets. A group of young men were reportedly shooting illegal fireworks at passing vehicles.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Theft: 12:44 a.m., 5800 block Main Street. Two unidentified subjects reportedly left a convenience store with an undisclosed amount of stolen beer.

Assault: 3:42 a.m., 4000 block South F Street. A caller reported that his daughter had been assaulted by a male in her residence. Police arrested the man for assault.

Found stolen property: 11:25 a.m., 200 block South Mill Street. A stolen backpack was found and returned to the owners by unknown subjects. The backpack contained papers from a correctional facility and multiple iPods and other potentially stolen items.

Identity theft: 11:51 a.m., 500 block 53rd Place. An unknown subject reportedly posed as another person attempted to renew the person's prescription drugs for his deceased dog.

A balloon filled with white powder was found outside an apartment complex. Police responded to pick up the item.

Police responded and charged the man with unlawful discharge of a firearm firearm, device consisting essentially of a straight tube to propel shot, shell, or bullets by the explosion of gunpowder. Found property: 9:01 a.m., 1100 block Harlow Road. A knife was reportedly found in the street outside an elementary school elementary school: see school. . The caller dropped off the knife at a local convenience store for retrieval by SPD.

Unattended child: 9:49 a.m., 6900 block A Street. A caller reported that a 10- to 11-year-old girl had been locked out of the house by her parents, who departed in a vehicle. Reckless endangerment: 9:33 p.m., 5700 block Main Street. Three males were reportedly shooting fireworks at a large fireworks tent in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Fight: 10:09 p.m., 1200 block Rainbow Drive. Eight people were reportedly involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of a convenience store.

Shots fired: 10:20 p.m., 2300 block Dornoch Street. A caller reported that a neighbor was shooting a rifle outside of his home. The rifle turned out to be illegal fireworks.

Illegal fireworks: 10:52 p.m., 1300 block R Street. A caller reported that fireworks shot at her home came into a window of her house and almost struck her children.

Fight: 11:29 p.m., West Centennial Boulevard and Rainbow Avenue. Approximately 10 to 15 males were reportedly involved in a fight outside of a local business.
