Amy McNeal woke up Saturday to something Southern Californians haven't experienced for much of the past few months: sunshine.

The first weekend of spring and all its hopes made a sunny debut as Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  residents in sunglasses and baseball caps flocked to area parks, malls and cafes to enjoy 80-degree temperatures.

Accompanied by her son Ryan, 2, and her daughter Megan, 1, McNeal said that after months of rain and clouds she eagerly welcomes the more friendly weather conditions.

``I was tired of El Nino,'' she added. ``I think we've had enough rain.''

The family frequents William S. Hart Park, McNeal said, because her children enjoy the various animals there.

An official said airline tickets booked through the Auto Club for spring travel are up 13 percent from last year.

``Although the next two weeks are busy, the majority of trips booked are for the week prior to Easter,'' said Leslie Leonard, the Auto Club's manager of travel services.

While many are hitting the road, Donehy said the weather has convinced her to stay put. ``I understand that we are supposed to get 80-plus-degree weather (Sunday), so why would I want to go anywhere?''
