SPREADING THEIR WINGS 'NUTCRACKER' MOVES TO LARGER LOCATION.

The Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Ballet Company has moved its annual production of ``The Nutcracker'' to the Vital Express Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. , allowing the dance troupe to perform for a larger audience in a venue that is truly professional.

Now entering its 10th year, the ballet company has waited a long time for this beautiful state-of-the art theater, according to Executive Director Corinne Glover.

``The company is looking forward to many seasons at The Vital Express,'' Glover said.

This year's ``Nutcracker'' was performed for students of the Newhall School District The Newhall School District is a school district in the Santa Clarita Valley that serves the Valencia and Newhall communities within the city of Santa Clarita, California, as well as the Stevenson Ranch community in unincorporated Los Angeles County.  on Tuesday, and has been described as the best presentation since the troupe's inception.

Under the guidance of Artistic Director Carol Guidry, this year's presentation will feature Anna Carnes and Andrea Feyler sharing the principal role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Carnes and Feyler both hold an advanced certificate to the Royal Academy of Dance The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) was established in 1920 by a group of professional dance artists brought together by Philip Richardson, editor of the Dancing Times and including:
  • Adeline GenĂ©e - Denmark
  • Tamara Karsavina - Russia
  • Lucia Cormani - Italy
, and Carnes is also the recipient of the prestigious Solo Seal Award. These two exceptional young dancers will each bring their own personal style to the role.

The role of the Cavalier will be performed by Jordi Ribera and David Eck. Ribera, a former dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet Royal Danish Ballet, one of the oldest major ballet companies, established at the opening of Denmark's Royal Theater in Copenhagen in 1748. The company was developed over the centuries by three great masters. , will partner Feyler, while Eck, a member of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is Canada's oldest ballet company and the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America.

It was founded in 1939 as the "Winnipeg Ballet Club" by Gweneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally.

The company consists of 25 members who will perform all other major roles, including Amanda Feyler in the role of Marie and Alex Kalinin and company, who will dance the famous Russian variation. Other students of the Santa Clarita Ballet Academy will perform as Party Girls, Soldiers, Tree Angels, Bon Bons and Mice.

``The Nutcracker'' will be presented at 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 18 and 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Vital Express Center for the Performing Arts at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. , 26455 N. Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia. A reception for dance supporters will take place prior to the 8 p.m. curtain Dec. 18.
