Also, Angels and Giants players, who wore red AIDS ribbons on their jerseys, joined nearly 1,000 volunteers in forming a ``human red ribbon'' in center field.

Throughout Britain, events were postponed as the shocked nation attempted to cope with the sudden death of the princess. The Premier League contest between Liverpool and Newcastle was postponed, as was a Division One match between Crewe and Port Vale.
