Challengers split twinbill with East County Knights

The Eugene Bi-Mart Challengers split a home doubleheader with the East County Knights of Gresham Tuesday night at Swede swede: see turnip.  Johnson Stadium.

In the first game, a 12-2 victory for the Challengers, Jesse Long's three-run double ended the game in the bottom of the sixth inning by the 10-run rule. East County won the second game 8-5. Nick Stiltner scored twice and tripled for the Challengers (7-7), who host the EDH Vipers of Sacramento at 6 p.m. today in a single game.

The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  golfer Derek Sipe shot a 5-under-par 137 to tie for first after stroke play at the Oregon Amateur on Tuesday at Columbia Edgewater Golf Club.

In the women's division, Eugene's Mary Budke shot a 14-over-par 158 to tie for ninth in the stroke play competition. Lara Tennant of Portland defeated Kristin Svicarovich of Hillsboro in three playoff holes to earn medalist honors.

Reedsport's Aubrey Vaughn won a playoff with Portland's Madeline Jarrett to earn the 32nd and final spot in the match play.
