Oregon State's Gillis wins stroke play title

CRESWELL - Oregon State golfer Mitch Gillis won his second major Oregon amateur championship of the summer Sunday by capturing the Men's Stroke Play Championship at Emerald Valley Golf Club.

Gillis shot a 1-over-par 72 in the final round and finished at 4-over 217, two shots ahead of Grants Pass' Erik Hill, who also closed with a 72. Bertram finishes third at weightlifting event

SHREVEPORT, La. - Sarah Bertram, representing Heavy Athletics Weightlifting Club in Creswell, finished third in the 63-kilogram category in the USA Weightlifting USA Weightlifting, otherwise known as USAW, is the national governing body overseeing the sport of Olympic weightlifting in the United States. USAW is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), responsible for conducting Olympic weightlifting programs throughout the  National Championships this weekend.

The 23-year-old, a seven-time Oregon state champion, had a 95-kilogram clean and jerk and a 75-kilogram snatch for a 170-kilogram total.

Former Lancer Royster makes all-star team

Ryan Royster, a graduate of Churchill High School who was picked by Tampa Bay Tampa Bay, inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, 25 mi (40 km) long and 7 to 12 mi (11.3–19 km) wide, W Fla., separated from the Gulf by numerous small islands; it receives the Hillsborough River. St.  in the 2004 amateur draft, was named a New York-Penn League All-Star earlier this week.

Royster is third in the Single-A short-season league with six homers this year. In 158 at-bats, he is hitting .266 with 21 RBIs.
