Former Duck assistant returning to Butler

Oregon State signs Churchill's Thompson

Churchill graduate Jerad Thompson signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Oregon State. Three outs made is equal to one inning pitched.  to earn first team, all-state honors.

"Jerad is as good a pitcher as they've had in that area in quite awhile," OSU coach Pat Casey said. "He was one of the better pitchers in the state, and anytime we can get an in-state recruit like Jerad we'll take him."

Thunder win pool with pair of victories

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Eugene Thunder won twice Tuesday to finish first in their pool at the ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah. Morgan Barnes and Lauren Watson combined on a two-hitter in the Thunder's 10-0 opening victory over the tournament host Fusion. Nyree White then scattered six hits in their 5-3 victory over the Skyhawks of Birmingham, Ala.

Kayla Braud, Molly McClaughry and Shannon Morgan had two hits each for the Thunder (37-7) against the Fusion. Watson was 3-for-3 and Teea Rogers added two hits against the Skyhawks.

Rapids win opener at national tournament

SEATTLE - Jessica Plummer struck out three in a five-hitter to lead the McKenzie Rapids past the Nashville Cruisers 4-0 in a pool play game Tuesday at the ASA U16 "A" national softball tournament.

Kaitlyn Patterson was 2-for-4 for the Rapids, who play the second of their two pool games today.

 wrestlers Brice Arand and Colby Covington turned in top-10 finishes at the Greco-Roman and Freestyle Junior Nationals, which ended Friday in Fargo, N.D.

In freestyle, Covington finished fourth and Arand finished sixth in the 171-pound class. Arand also was fourth in Greco-Roman.
