The Chargers finished their inaugural season 13-7, good for at least a tie for third place in their division. Eric Dow scored 53 points for Colorado. Thunder tie for eighth at national qualifier SALEM - The California Breeze of Sacramento scored four runs in the third inning, three of them unearned, on the way to a 5-1 victory over the Eugene Thunder at the 14U National Qualifying softball tournament Sunday. Kayla Braud was 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Thunder (23-6), who were eliminated with the loss and finished in a tie for eighth-place in the 34-team tournament. The Thunder have two more chances to qualify for the national championships - the state tournament in Junction City on July 7-9 and the regional tournament in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on July 21-23. Titans finish third in Roseburg tourney ROSEBURG - Mark Bavaro was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Springfield Titans to an 11-5 victory over the Albany Rockets in the third-place game of the Doc Stewart's American Legion baseball tournament on Sunday. Beau Edwards was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored and Spencer Lind was 2-for-3 with three runs scored in the win. James Horsley and Jesse Westbrook had two singles apiece in the Titans' 18-hit attack. |
