SPEEDWAY LOSES MARLBORO SPONSORSHIP.

With the announcement that Marlboro and Team Penske are leaving the CART series for the Indy Racing League The Indy Racing League, better known as IRL, is the sanctioning body of a predominantly American based open-wheel racing series.

, California Speedway The California Speedway is a two-mile, low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California, similar to that of "sister track" Michigan International Speedway. It is located approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles on the site of the former Kaiser Steel mill. , which plays host to the CART season finale 500-mile race, will be losing its title sponsor of the event.

The Marlboro 500 presented by Toyota at California Speedway in Fontana has been the season-ending race for the CART series for the past five years. We will continue to be aggressive in the promotion of the CART season finale, and all of us at California Speedway thank Marlboro for its support and wish Marlboro Team Penske the best of luck on this new endeavor.''
