SPEEDWAY GEARS UP FOR SHOW; CLASSIC CARS, MIDGET RACE TO HIGHLIGHT CHARITY EVENT.

It will be vehicular nirvana tonight and Saturday at the Saugus Speedway, where all things automotive - from classic cars to midget race cars and vendors of vintage auto parts Auto parts are components of automobiles. They mainly are, in alphabetic order (only car specific articles or articles with car section):
  • Air filter
  • Automobile self starter
  • Bell housing
  • Brakes
  • Bucket seat
  • Bumper
  • Buzzer
  • Battery
 - will be on display or for sale.

The second annual Saugus Speedway Oldies Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Oldies are typically from R&B, pop and rock music genres.
 & Goodies Car Show will be held all day Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., but tonight's lineup is scheduled to include time trials and qualifying races for one event, the M-Car Grand Prix Grand Prix

Sponsors pay between $850 and $6,500 to enter teams in the M-Car Grand Prix. The race is a fund-raiser for the Santa Clarita Child & Family Development Center, which serves 3,500 clients each year with programs that include crisis counseling for suicidal youths, parenting classes, couples therapy, substance abuse and delinquency prevention, and treatment for attention deficit disorder attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder (ADD or ADHD)

Meanwhile, the Soledad Canyon Road race track will host a diverse lineup of entertainment, activities and contests Saturday, said Terri Burbank, general manager of the Saugus Speedway and Saugus Swap Meet.

Trophies will be awarded in 29 categories at the classic car contest. Most of the entrants will be pre-1970s models, Burbank said.

The cars and trucks will be judged on their best paint jobs and customizing. Judges also will choose the best Mustang, Corvette corvette, small warship, classed between a frigate and a sloop-of-war.
