SPEED LINKED TO MAN'S DEATH IN VALLEY CRASH.

A 24-year-old Saugus man man was killed in a three-way traffic collision Sunday while apparently speeding in the northern tip of the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

``Speed was a factor,'' said West Valley Traffic Officer W. Jimison. ``He apparently drove across a double-yellow line into oncoming traffic.

``He was getting ready to be married (next month).''

Calhoun was driving south on San Fernando Road when the collision occurred, Jimison said. A male passenger broke his leg and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.

The driver of a third car that rear-ended the van was not injured.

The collision forced a lengthy closure of San Fernando Road at the edge of the Los Angeles city limit and near the juncture of Interstate 5 and Highway 14.
