SPECTRUM SIGNAL PROCESSING INC. HONES IN ON EMERGING COMPANY MARKETPLACE
 AT THE AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE
 NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc., of Burnaby, British Columbia, today joined the growing number of companies listed on the American Stock Exchange's Emerging Company Marketplace (ECMsm). Trading under ticker symbol "SNL.EC", the company's common stock opened at 2-1/8 on 100 shares. The stock was previously listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange, where it will continue trading. The company has selected Goin & Company as its Specialist unit.
 Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. focuses on the application of Digital Signal Processing (DSP), which industry analysts claim to be the fastest growing segment of the semiconductor industry. The company supplies a full range of DSP development systems and embedded systems, including computer boards, chips, modules and DSP application software. Applications for DSP include digital cellular telephony, digital audio, medical diagnostics and defense surveillance, among a number of other industrial uses.

 For the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 1991, Spectrum Signal Processing realized a net income of $660,055 (CDN) up from a net income of $151,080 (CDN) fiscal year end 1990. Net income per common share experienced similar growth, with a 1991 year end gain of $0.11 (CDN) per share up from $0.03 (CDN) per common share in 1990.
 Today's listing brings to 29 the total number of companies listed on the Emerging Company Marketplace.
